Anyone with a smartphone knows: they connect us to the rest of the world and, at the same time, alienate us from one another. In [Dis/re]-connecting, by composer Charles Baumstark, percussion trio XTRO and string quartet Pelargos Quartet search for answers to the question of how we can develop a healthy relationship with our phones. XTRO also performs Objects and Portrait Projections by Gaudeamus Award 2024 nominee Patrick Ellis, a minimalist percussion piece that incorporates both electronics and plastic bottles.
